WORSHIP PASTOR PROFILE

Johnston Chapel in Princeton, WV is seeking a worship pastor. Our purpose is to develop disciples of Jesus Christ who love Him, grow in Him, and serve Him. We are motivated by a passion to see the lost come to know Christ. We are committed to Christ-centered expository preaching and theologically rich congregational singing. Requirements                                                                                                                               

Competence

  • Meets the pastoral qualifications in 1 Timothy 3:1-7 and Titus 1:6-9
  • 5+ years of experience in worship ministries preferred
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Music and Bible preferred
  • Proven leadership (visionary, self-motivated, and organized)
  • Able to lead worship playing an instrument and a broad musical background
  • Sufficient knowledge of audio, video, and lighting technology
  • Strong interpersonal skills

  • Passion for teaching theology through music
  • Commitment to the spiritual development of musicians
  • Involvement in community outreach and cross-cultural missions

 Responsibilities                                                                                                                            

 Corporate Worship

  • Plan corporate worship services with the lead pastor
  • Lead corporate worship in Sunday and Wednesday services
  • Ensure excellence in music ministry
  • Prepare and lead a weekly practice with the worship team
  • Supervise the purchase and maintenance of sound equipment and instruments
  • Recruit, train, and mobilize musicians and audio/video techs
  • Lead seasonal programs such as Easter and Christmas (may include choir)
  • Assist in the development of musicians among our children and youth

 General Pastoral

  • Provide oversight for a secondary ministry (administration, student, discipleship, etc.)
  • Shepherd the congregation through visitation, care, and counseling
  • Assist the lead pastor in coordinating and officiating ordinances
  • Model faithfulness by investing in the life of the church
  • Organize teams of ushers and greeters
  • Attend weekly staff meetings
  • Serve on church committees as needed
