WHAT IS D. M. A. FELLOWSHIP?
D.M.A. Fellowship is a senior adult ministry for those
55 years of
age and older. (The initials, "D.M.A.", stand for "Don't
Mention Age".)
It was organized in 1987 for the purpose of spiritual
fellowship,
friendship and outreach for the Lord.
WHO CAN JOIN?
To join D.M.A. Fellowship an individual or spouse must be
55 years of
age or older and attend at least one monthly luncheon
or activity.
Honorary membership is considered by recommendation of
the officers
for those not quite 55. All members are encouraged
to purchase and
wear the official D.M.A. Fellowship nametag to all meetings
and activities.
WHO ARE THE LEADERS?
Officers of D.M.A. Fellowship are elected
each October, to serve a one year term. Officers must be members of
Johnston Chapel Baptist Church. Serving until September 2011 is:

WHEN DO THEY MEET?
Each month, D.M.A. Fellowship sponsors a
luncheon on the 2nd Thursday, meeting in room #140 at 10:30 a.m.
Everyone is asked to bring a covered dish lunch to share. The church
provides drinks and table service. Upcoming programs for 2011:
January 13 – Cancelled due to bad weather.
February 11 –

March 10 –
Pastor Jim Nofsinger will present a pictorial program of his January
2011 trip to Papua New Guinea visiting his missionary daughter, Amy
Thyng and her family.
April 14 – Cliff Goldsmith of the Mercer County
911 Center will present “What the 911 Center Can Do For You.”
May 12 – Lisa James of The Havens will present
“Stroke Prevention.”
June 9 – Jim Long, Senior Vice President and WV
Central Team Director of BB&T Private Financial Services will present
“The Fundamentals of Sound Investing.”
July 14 – Covered dish picnic at the church
pavilion at 6 pm. Note: This meeting will replace our
regular morning meeting at 10:30 a.m. Missionaries Steve & Viky
Pounds to
France with Biblical Ministries Worldwide will present our program.
August 11 – Lance Bowman will present “Music
Appreciation & the Development of the Bowman Guitar.”
September 8 – Troy Sitffler, an American Red
Cross Donor Recruitment Representative will present “The Need Is
Constant but the Gratification is Instant.”
October 13 – Pastor Lonya German and wife Luba
along with Missionary Dr. Miriam Wheeler will present a program about
life and ministry in the Ukraine.
November 10 – Dr. Jeff Clay of Shady Spring
Dental Care will present “Oral Health for Seniors.”
December 8 – Christmas Banquet. This meeting
will replace our regular morning meeting at 10:30 a.m. Watch for
additional details.
WHAT ACTIVITIES ARE PLANNED THIS YEAR?
D.M.A. Fellowship also sponsors a number of trips
and activities through the year. Outings in 2011 will include:
March 5th - Join us for an evening of fellowship
and a family-style meal of fried chicken, country ham & roast beef all
you can eat at the Homeplace Restaurant in Catawba, Virginia.
Cost is $25 per person and is due with
Pastor Jim Nofsinger by Wednesday, March 2nd (or until
the bus is full) to reserve your place. The church bus will leave at
2:30 p.m.
April 2nd - We will travel north to the
beautiful campus of
Appalachian Bible College in Bradley, West Virginia for their
annual Spring Music Festival. Dinner and shopping will take place at
Tamarack which features West Virginia-made products, hand-made
crafts, arts and cuisine. The bus will depart from church at 4:15
p.m. Cost is $2 per person. See

June 17th - A delightful evening down
memory lane is in store at the
Chuck Mathena Center to see and hear Bill Pickney’s ORIGINAL
DRIFTERS at 8:00 p.m. Cost is $18 per person and is due with
Pastor Jim Nofsinger by Thursday, May 12th. For those
interested in sharing a meal before the concert, we will meet at Ryan’s
Steakhouse at 6:00 p.m. No transportation is provided for this local
event.
August 30th - Experience the story of a
boy, Homer “Sonny” Hickam, Jr., living in Coalwood, WV who had the
dream of becoming a rocket scientist as
Theatre WV presents “Rocket Boys.” Be sure to bring a sweater or
jacket for this outdoor drama at the Cliffside Amphitheatre at
Grandview State Park. The bus will depart from church at 4:30 p.m.
stopping for dinner in Beckley, WV. Cost is $20 per person to include
transportation and admission to “Rocket Boys.” See
Pastor Nofsinger by Sunday, August 14th to reserve your
place for this outing.
September 29th-October 1st -
Smoky Mountain Showtime is a 3-day tour to the Pigeon Forge/Gatlinburg,
Tennessee area that will feature five great shows:
- “The
Miracle,” the story of Christ at the Miracle Theatre
- Smith
Boys Show at the Smith Family Dinner Show
- Hatfield
& McCoy’s Dinner Feud Show

- Back to
the 50’s Show
