D. M. A.   F E L L O W S H I P

WHAT IS D. M. A. FELLOWSHIP?

D.M.A. Fellowship is a senior adult ministry for those 55 years of age and older. (The initials, "D.M.A.", stand for "Don't Mention Age".) It was organized in 1987 for the purpose of spiritual fellowship, friendship and outreach for the Lord.

WHO CAN JOIN?

To join D.M.A. Fellowship an individual or spouse must be 55 years of age or older and attend at least one monthly luncheon or activity. Honorary membership is considered by recommendation of the officers for those not quite 55. All members are encouraged to purchase and wear the official D.M.A. Fellowship nametag to all meetings and activities.

WHO ARE THE LEADERS?

Officers of D.M.A. Fellowship are elected each October, to serve a one year term. Officers must be members of Johnston Chapel Baptist Church. Serving until September 2010 is:

WHEN DO THEY MEET?

Each month, D.M.A. Fellowship sponsors a luncheon on the 2nd Thursday, meeting in room #140 at 10:30 a.m.  Everyone is asked to bring a covered dish lunch to share. The church provides drinks and table service. Upcoming programs for 2010: 

January 14 – Ms. Lori Burgess, a Family Service Counselor with Resthaven Memorial Park will present Education in Preplanning.  A Family Estate Planning Portfolio will be given to all in attendance.  Extra copies will be available with Pastor Jim Nofsinger.

February 11 – Cancelled due to bad weather.

March 11 – Circuit Court Judge Omar Aboulhosn will present a program concerning the court system and life of a judge in Mercer County.

April 8 – Rev. John Altizer, a Mission Representative/Professor with Baptists Equipping Nationals will talk about the importance of training nationals.

May 13 – Mr. Ben Shrader, a Financial Consultant with AXA Advisors will present “Investing in Retirement Years.”

June 10 – Missionaries Eric & Kristanna Richardson with ABWE will present a program of their upcoming ministry to France.

July 8 – Covered dish picnic at the church pavilion at 6 pm.  Note:  This meeting will replace our regular morning meeting at 10:30 a.m.

December 9 – Christmas Banquet at the Sugar Shack at 6:30 p.m.  Note:  This meeting will replace our regular morning meeting at 10:30 a.m.  Watch for additional details.

 

WHAT ACTIVITIES ARE PLANNED THIS YEAR?
 
D.M.A. Fellowship also sponsors a number of trips and activities through the year.  Outings in 2010 will include:
 
February 19th
Join us for an evening of fellowship and good food at the Bluestone Diner of the Pipestem Resort State Park for their Friday night Seafood Buffet.  For those needing a ride, the bus will depart from church at 4:30 with dinner to start at 5:30 pm.  Cost for the buffet is $20.95 or you may order from the menu.  See Pastor Nofsinger to reserve your place and seat on the bus. 
 
March 19th
“The Sound of Music” will be seen at the Wohlfahrt Haus Dinner Theatre, a state-of-the-art German-themed dinner theatre nestled in the beautiful Appalachian mountains of southwest Virginia.  Cost for transportation, meal and show is $40 per person.  Make reservations with Pastor Nofsinger before March 11 to guarantee your place.  The bus will leave from church at 5:15 p.m.
 
April 9th
Enjoy the “Crooked Road- Mountain Music of Virginia” a National Tour of Old-time, Bluegrass, Mountain Gospel and Flatfoot Dance at the Chuck Mathena Center on Friday, April 9th, 8:00 p.m.  Cost for group tickets will be $21.60.  See Pastor Nofsinger to reserve your place.  Let’s meet at Ryan’s Steakhouse at 6:00 p.m. to share a meal with one another.  No transportation will be provided as this is local Princeton event.
 
June 17th
Travel with us to The Swinging Bridge Restaurant in Paint Bank, Virginia, where you’ll find “old-time, Southern, stick-to-your-ribs good cookin', with a hillbilly gourmet flare”.  After your meal, stroll across a real swinging bridge and visit the Paint Bank General Store & Gift Shop, an authentic small-town general store stocking everything from dry goods to hardware to grocery items.  Cost for transportation is $5.00 (meal not included-plan to order from the menu).  The bus will depart from church at 1:00 p.m. with a shopping stop made in Gap Mills, WV at the Cheese N’ More Store, Kitchen Creek Bakery and the Valley Spring Furniture.  See Pastor Nofsinger to reserve your place and seat on the bus. 
 

August 17th

Enjoy “Genuine Homegrown Fun” at the 86th Annual State Fair of West Virginia.  Cost for general admission and transportation is $10 but you must sign up with Pastor Nofsinger by Thursday, August 12th to reserve your place.  The bus will depart from church at 9 a.m. with plans to return by 5 p.m. 

 

October 6-8th

“Joseph & Amish Country” is a 3-day excursion to the heart of Lancaster County, Pennsylvania.  Tour highlights will include “Joseph” at the Sight & Sound Millennium Theatre and “Church Basement Ladies,” a musical comedy at the Dutch Apple Dinner Theatre.  At the Plain & Fancy Farm, we will witness “Jacob’s Choice” at the Amish Experience Theater, take a guided tour of the Amish farmlands and enjoy a full traditional Amish meal with all the trimmings.  Two nights lodging with a Hot Breakfast Smorgasbord will be provided at the Hershey Farm Restaurant & Inn.  Tour flyers with costs are available at the church.  A $50 deposit will reserve your place with final payment due by August 25th.  See Pastor Nofsinger to reserve your place.
