Notes Of Interest
On his new talk
show a few nights ago, Governor Mike Huckabee was
asked “What advice can you give to my wife and I who
are about to be new parents?” Governor Huckabee
replied, “…don’t pay attention to this stuff about ‘the
terrible twos’ etc. Every day with your child can be
the best day of your life.” I think there is so much
truth in that statement. It reminded me to really
value and make the very most of every day I have with
my precious child. It reminded me to enjoy the little
things, like watching the big smile of accomplishment
spread across her face as she masters drinking from a
“big girl cup.”

Wise Words from our Mentors
As
the leaves are turning from their summer green to
brilliant shades of autumn, we know the season is
changing. So it is with life. We all go through seasons
of change. As for me, the most recent one has been the
empty nest. I wasn't prepared for how difficult that
would be. During this time, it has been comforting to
have people, who have already been through it, tell me
it will get better. The Lord has used time and
encouragement from others to help me.
My thoughts turn toward another big change in my
life--preparing to be a grandmother!! I recently took
an over-night trip with my daughters just to enjoy time
away, and being with them. I wasn't used to having
Aimee, who is pregnant, sit up at 2am and say sternly,
"Mom, I'm starving!!" After having found an apple to
eat, and settling down to go back to sleep, once again
in the darkness came the words, "Mom, I'd give my nice
purse for a glass of milk!!" Needless to say, it was a
different trip than I'm used to.
Whatever changes you're experiencing will probably pass
with time, also. Whether you're expecting your first or
last child, or your little one is teething, learning to
sit up, learning to walk, you're trying to potty-train,
or your precious little one went off to school, it will
get better. Change is a normal, sometimes painful part
of life, and we just have to take a day at a time.
So grab a cup of cider and head out to the porch. Sit
back and relax, and enjoy the cool, crisp autumn
season, remembering...this too shall pass. ~ Vicki
