Time for What?
Ephesians 5:15-16
I. The Preciousness Of Time
A. It is important. – John 9:4
Work
while it is day…
B. It is a gift from God. – v. 16
It represents God-given opportunity.
C. It passes quickly and is irrevocable. – v. 16
Make
the most of the moment.
D. The wise steward values time. – Ps. 90:12
“So
teach us to number our days, that we may apply our hearts unto wisdom.”
II. The Possibility Of Wasting
Time
A. By inactivity
“Go
to the ant, thou sluggard; consider her ways and be wise.” – Proverbs
6:6
B. By rationalization
Excuses, but not good ones
C. By misapplication
Preoccupation with things of lesser importance
D. By procrastination
“Come now, you who say, ‘today or tomorrow we will…’” – James 4:13ff.
III. The Proper Use Of Time – See Ephesians 5:1-6:19.
A. Live a Godly life. – vv. 1-13
B. Be alert. – v. 14
C. Be wise in the use of your time. – vv.15-16
D. Do God’s will. – v. 17
E. Be controlled by the Spirit. – v. 18
