Father Forgive Them

Luke 23:33-34

I. The Forgiving Father

A. Sin had been committed against God. – Acts 4:23-28

B. Only God can forgive sin. – Mark 2:7

C. God delights to forgive sin. – Psalm 86:5

II. The Forbearing Savior

A. Jesus provided the means for our forgiveness. – Ephesians 1:7

B. Forgiveness has been made available to all who will place their faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. – Acts 13:38-39

III. The Frail Multitude

A. They had ignorantly sinned against God.

B. Those for whom Jesus prayed were nevertheless guilty before God and in need of forgiveness.

C. The forgiveness many experienced in that day can be experienced by any who will personally trust the Lord Jesus Christ as Savior. – Colossians 1:13-14

D. Those who are forgiven are to extend forgiveness to others by the grace of Christ. – Ephesians 4:32
