Cheer Up!

I Thessalonians 5:16-18

 

 

I.     Constant Rejoicing – v. 16 cp Philippians 4:4

 

        A.        We are to rejoice no matter what we are experiencing.

 

        B.        There are always many reasons for us to rejoice.

 

        C.        Our ability to rejoice comes from the Lord. cp Galatians 5:22

 

 

II.    Ceaseless Prayer – v. 17

 

        A.        Pray privately. – Matthew 6:6

 

        B.  Pray with the family.


        C. Pray with God’s people. – Acts 1:13…; 4:24…; 12:12

 

        D. Keep on praying! 

              “Not uninterrupted but constantly recurring.”

              Note: Pray at all times, in all places, about all things and for all people.

 


III.  Continuous Thanksgiving – v.18

 

        A. The ungodly are unthankful. – Romans 1:21

 

        B.        One of the marks of a true believer is a heart filled with gratitude to God.

 

        C.  By the grace of God we can learn to be thankful in all things.

 

 

Conclusion - This is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you:

Ø   Constant rejoicing - “Rejoice always.”

Ø   Ceaseless prayer - “Pray without ceasing.”

Ø   Continuous thanksgiving - “In everything give thanks.”
