Meets in the Youth Room
Sunday nights from 5:30 to 7:00 PM
Wednesday nights from 6:30 to 8:00 PM
Middle school and high school students are facing some of the most important and challenging years of their lives. They are in the process of developing their belief system. Following the model of loving Christ, growing in Him and serving Him, the Johnston Chapel youth program exists to develop mature followers of Jesus Christ. Opportunities for learning, fellowship and service abound within our program.
Sunday morning Bible Fellowships are divided between middle school students and high school students and are focused on intensive Bible study. Our teens are on a seven-year-long journey through God’s Word from 6th grade through 12th grade. Each student will grasp the big picture of God’s work in the world and understand their personal role in His work as they live the Christian life.
On Sunday evenings, our students serve in the community through the PRIMED315 ministry. We believe that they need an outlet to serve our community and to share the gospel of Jesus Christ with boldness. This is why we prepare them to always be ready to give an answer for the hope that they have according to 1 Peter 3:15. Students accomplish this through a variety of means including serving meals to the needy, cleaning local parks and roads, singing to the elderly, developing relationships with group home kids, and assisting local partners like the Abel Pregnancy Resource Center and Bluefield Union Mission.
The Wednesday night service is the student worship service. We enjoy a time of fellowship and games, worship led by our youth praise band and teaching. During this service, students break out into small group based on both age and gender for deeper discipleship.
The students enjoy a variety of monthly outings in our program. These outings are designed to be exciting and fun times while building unity among the group members. Our biggest outing is the annual trip to Liberty University for Winterfest.
Our students are also challenged to put their knowledge of God’s Word and missions into practical use during our annual missions trip. Both middle school and high school students will have the privilege of serving either locally, across the United States or internationally.
